    Hello IonCraft!
Welcome to the twenty-seventh official server-sponsored building contest! This contest's theme is Favourite Movie, Book, or Show! Essentially, this means build a scene or building from your favourite movie, book, or show. Feel free to use your imagination and be creative, but remember that all Ioncraft rules still apply regarding builds. Please be sure to read all of the Rules & Guidelines before submitting your entry.

    Rules & Guidelines
    • No plagiarism. You may not copy someone else's design, or base your build off of someone else's design. Doing so is an automatic disqualification.
    • This event is a single-player event. You may not receive any help from any other players!
    • You may not submit builds in any other world except Creative Plotworld. This means no megaplots or smallplots.
    • You may not submit builds that have been created before the contest start date.
    • You may not use more than one plot.
    • You may not use WorldEdit in any way.
    • You may not modify your build in any way after you've submitted it to the contest.
    • You must be a Citizen or higher to participate.
    Judges
After all entries are submitted, each judge will rate each build on a scale of 1-10 with a score of 10 being absolutely amazing and follows the theme perfectly, and a score of 1 being extremely low quality build that does not follow the theme. After each judge has scored each submission, the total points for the submission will be added together to determine the final score. The highest score being 30, and the lowest score being 3.

Build Description: My build is based on the novella "The Assassin and the Desert", from the book "The Assassin's Blade" by Sarah J. Maas. I chose this book as the series is a very well written, descriptive book series with extreme twists to keep the reader engaged all the way through. This particular build is the Silent Assassins' desert temple/castle.

    Quite a small contest. Aaanyway.
    iQuinten: 9.5/10
A VERY nice build. The use of blocks with similar colors to give otherwise boring areas more texture is ingenious, as well as beautiful. (don't forget the cauldron trick.) However, why it isn't a 10/10 is the lack of an interior, not even a small one, hurts it a bit. Although it still blew me away once I first saw it.

    WiFri: 8.4/10
Another nice build. The walls are very detailed and amazingly patterned. And that's about all I can say positively about it. The use of orange sandstone clashed with the rest of the build, and the blatant laziness of not even covering up the grass in the towers. As well as the fact that the interior is very dark on moody lighting, as well as numerous lighting bugs on the roof. (Always try walking around your plot on moody lighting.

This build was all about the contrasting details, although the broad strokes worked incredibly well, too. First off, the intricate detailing was superb, with some sections having nearly 3 separate layers contrasting and accentuating each other. The block choices were very nice, the soft stone brick and quartz nicely balancing out the busy diorite. Using the diorite's palette as a base was an excellent idea, and you continued your obvious mastery of colours and structure throughout the rest of the plot. The stained-glass window was an obvious example, but it carried over to the basic training field and general implementation of the pokeball motif into the structure. The banners were a nice touch, but besides the complementary green and reds, it felt like something peripheral that was just tacked on. Of course, in the pokemon games, the league usually is just a random building with a pokeball motif tacked on, but you did successfully recreate the classy feel that a pokemon league should have. On most of the plot. You did something really interesting, by contrasting the incredibly complex, intricate and elegant pokemon league with its surroundings. The training field and beautiful flower garden successfully, and literally brings the pokemon league down-to-earth. The trees were an especial highlight, adding a different and beautiful light source. Still, it was a tiny area compared to the massive league right next to it.
    Oh, also, the interior sucks.

    WiFri: 8/10
This one also had a detailing focus, and had several interesting ideas going on. Even without the tiny shred of context that you gave us, it might've been possible to guess that it was an assassin's temple. The overall shape of the structure had a mysterious look to it, obviously designed to look good from the ground. The vividly contrasting colours gave the impression of a heat shimmer, adding to the intrigue of the outside. The boulders and flowers add a nice touch, but it was generally sloppier than iQuinten's effort, especially with the confusing wood pressure plates all over the sand. Were they supposed to be hidey-holes for the assassins? Added rocky texture? Thankfully, the area was still solidly constructed, and the use of banners on the trees was very artful. While there are still a few gripes to be had, the structure was obviously not meant to be explored, even if adding slight interiors under the four main towers might have been a significant addition. Even just sealing the area off with a complementary colour would've been better than what was done.
We do have to acknowledge the elephant in the room at some point, though. The interior is very, very poor. The middle section is too busy, with the trees far too close, but the outer walls have no consistency, with massive gaps, then just bare walls with a few paintings randomly splashed about. The bookcases looked neat, but even just the wood choice contrasted severely with the rest of the build. End rods were the worst possible choice for lighting the interior, with a colour totally unrelated to the rest of the map, and their thin build merely increasing the already problematic spacial discrepancies. The ceiling exacerbated this issue, its height refused the cozy intimacy that the interesting bookcases implied, while the repeated texture of the sandstone looked incredibly jarring against the smooth sandstone walls. Compared to the exterior, it created a totally different feel and mood.
Oh, also, the interior is a terrible parkour course.
